I'm learning little by little ... It's absolutely amazing how easy it is to learn something when you can see it piece for piece in an environment such as the one presented by Dreamweaver.
For those of you who don't know, the page you are viewing is based on a purchased template. That is to say that the artwork is and layout is based on a template. All the extra stuff, the blog insertion, the content, etc., is all my doing. It is my goal to create a site that serves not just as a place for people to learn more about "me" the person, but "me" the worker, the learner, the philosopher, the writer, the guy with a million and one things to say but never enough time to tell it all. I want perspective employers to view my site and realize that I am a normal, honest guy, with a wide range of experience and capabilities.
I encourage you to read, view, and comment on anything you see here.

Stay tuned, and PLEASE... I encourage your comments. When it comes to "design/layout" I'm a guy... enough said... ladies, give me some help here.

FOLLOWING IS A GLIMPSE INTO THE MIND OF ERIK RITZMAN... A GUY WITH FAR TOO MUCH IMAGINATION, TOO MUCH DESIRE TO TRAVEL, AN OPINION ABOUT MOST EVERYTHING AND WHO DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO STOP TRYING TO BE THE BEST HE CAN BE... COME INSIDE... YOU MIGHT LIKE IT HERE

I have finally gotten a PhotoAlbum that I like. It's called "Flickr".

ME (AT A GLANCE)
Erik Ritzman

Location: Alexandria, Virginia, United States

OK ...a little about me: I'm a 35yr. old, single, guy. I have just recently moved back inside the shadow of the Nation's Capitol (USA), and am now living in Alexandria, Virginia. I have been to most every continental US state, and have visited 5 different countries. If you'd like to know more about me I encourage you to read on, or message me.

Professionally, I work as an independent contractor for Dell as a Field Service Technician. I run around fixing people's Dell Computers. Fun job at times, though now that I am on that side of Dell, I also have an opportunity to see how and where so many people become frustrated and upset in their Dell expereince. I have worked in numerous different areas, wearing numerous different hats from clerical to construction, from professional to "not-so-professional" I loved most all of them, and found that in all of them, my happieness with my job is directly affected by the profesionalism and quality of relationships I am able to interact with amongst my peers and the market itself.

My most memorable and I must say one of my favorites, was working for the helpdesk at University of Maryland. It was nothing too difficult; mostly just imaging new machines and helping students and faculty with various issues from connecting to or fixing a printer to assisting them with removing Spyware, AdWare, and Viruses from their machine. It turns out that I have a talent for finding, removing and preventing such annoying pests. I can't take credit myself however, I utilize tools that are available to everyone (some even for free).

Previous to my position at the University of Maryland - Shady Grove Campus, I had the wonderful opportunity to work with some of the greatest people at the UMD College Park, Computer Space Science Building, as a member of the Office of Information Technology Helpdesk. Wow... talk about some gifted individuals. I can't remember a time in my life where I have so eagerly looked forward to going to work. Everyday I felt as if I was learning something new, whether it be working with Mac's, learning about Unix and PHP, or more than I should really care to know about the "other side" in the political arena for presidency. Everyone there contributed in some way everyday. It was absolutely amazing.

I also had an opportunity to work as the Assistant to the Director of OIT for the Phillip Merrill Journalism College. Turns out, the Director is the new proud parent of a healthy little boy, and he wanted to take some time to enjoy the rewards of being a new father. In his absence, I served in his place, managing the numerous servers and workstations, as well as offering IT and AV assistance to its 500+ users.

I am always on the lookout for new job opportunities. As you can tell I have quite a few skills in the IT and web development side of things; however, I am also a very skilled "handy-man / fix-it-man" amongst other things.

For those of you who were waiting... here it is. For those of you who didn't know... here it is.

Following is a search tool for the greatest search engine on the planet. Yep, you guessed it, Google. I finally figured out how to place a customized link onto my site. While my original intention was to have my site searchable by this same great tool, I have come to find yet again that my scripting makes this feature inaccessible at this time.

When using the following tool, you will notice it redirects you to a Google page customized with the SnapRider logo at the top. When you are ready to return back to here, just click the logo and you'll be brought back to here.

Events and happenings... this section will tell you what I'm doing. Eventually I will add a calendar feature in which you can click on a day and see what's happening. (Example: the month of October would be seen, and if you clicked on the 19th you'd get a little pop-up type box telling you that "Jump Little Children" and "Rosehorse" were playing at the "FunkBox" in Baltimore, Maryland. The band names and locations would be hyperlinked to their respective place on the "friends" page and there you'd find more info, or if it was a past date, my thoughts of the show, etc., and possibly an "unadvertised" quidbit from the band or location (ie. a rare-live acoustic recording preformed just for this site's viewers, a video glimpse of the show, a coupon for reduced entry to next show, or even how to get free merch... who knows... maybe you'll just have to stick around to see what happens).
(As you can see... I'm having difficulty in finding a calendar tool, or interface I want to use. If you have a suggestion or have seen a calendar tool that you think I might like to incorporate, please let me know)
